This all started with my hatred of mosquitos. They think I'm the tastiest treat so I bought plants that should help keep them away from me so I can actually enjoy our (newly re-built) deck. You can check out that story here!
One of the plants I grabbed is lemongrass. I love the way it smells, and it's really pretty to look at. Upon doing some research I realized that it won't survive a Missouri winter if I put it in the ground, but I can keep it in a pot and bring it inside for the winter. I checked on it and realized it was quickly becoming root bound, and new pots are expensive! Wandering through Lowe's, I found this basic black planter:
I broke out my painters tape and this is where we ended up (after some grumbling that the triangles weren't coming out even)
The next day, outside we went with my handy can of white spray paint! I'm fairly certain there's a gnat or two stuck in the paint, but it is what it is when you basically live in the woods.
Peeling the tape off was one of the more satisfying things I've done...there's something so wonderful about a crisp line of paint!
If you hang out with me on Instagram, you know that timelapse videos are one of my fav things to share, and I made a quick little one of getting the lemongrass into it's new home
Another project, powered by spray paint. Now, on to what the ladies are up to this week!
Jackie broke out the flamingos, and I am loving it! Flamingos are just synonymous with summer!
Ashlee showed us how she styled a citrus themed centerpiece two different ways. I love how cheerful the centerpieces came out!
Shanna has the best pops of green for summer! I'm obsessed with her leaf prints on the wall!
Thanks for hanging out! Drop me a comment and let me know how you decorate for summer!
The DIY planter turned out amazing. I too love paint and fresh crisp clean lines. Great job my friend.
ReplyDeleteThanks Shanna!
DeleteLove love love it! From blah to Fab. Paint is a magical thing.
ReplyDeleteI am all about the power of paint too! This pot turned out super cute and it is an easy project we all can do! (if we can get the triangles right ;) Thanks for hopping with me. XO
ReplyDeleteI've decided my not quite perfect triangles are endearing at this point because man they were not cooperating! Lol! Thank you!
DeleteI couldn't agree more - paint is a great way to update SO many things! I need some lemongrass....I'm currently rockin' 4 mosquito bites! Ugh!!!!
ReplyDeleteI bought a lemongrass and a citronella and it seems like keeping them up on the deck has helped! I only have a couple bites so far, probably from being down in the garden
DeleteThe mosquitoes are so bad in Alabama! I need to get some lemongrass...which I won't be able to keep alive though! Love how your planter turned out! Paint is an amazing thing!
ReplyDeleteLemongrass is pretty tough! You might be surprised!
